LOGAN WALKED into the hotel lobby where the contest was being held. A Christmas tree adorned with lights and glass ornaments was in the center. There was plenty of garland decking out the walls and a wreath hanging behind the service center. It was all starting to grow on him; a little bit of the Christmas spirit. Well, if he was going to take Ryan on a date, he might as well get used to it. He walked into the ballroom and saw all of the gingerbread scenes that were on display. He was amazed by all of the ideas other people had executed. There was some serious talent in this room.

His gaze stopped on Ryan’s gingerbread town, and he smiled remembering last night and how he had helped Ryan put it all together. He didn’t really realize until now, how truly content he had been helping out Ryan.

He walked toward Ryan, who was busy talking to the judges. As he got closer, he could hear little snippets of how Ryan had come to make this year’s creation and what he had used. The judges looked very focused on what he was saying while taking an analytical look at the whole display. Logan was able to catch Ryan’s eye when they were looking at the display. Ryan smiled and waved at Logan, and he reciprocated. He made sure to stand off to the side and wait until the judges left, so he didn’t do anything to hurt Ryan’s chances with the judges. Once the judges had all of their questions answered and inspected everything they possibly could, they moved on to the next contestant. Logan walked up to Ryan and smiled.

“Wow, they sure stayed awhile. That must be a good sign!” Logan observed.

Ryan laughed. “Well, only time will tell.”

“They’d be stupid not to give you first place! You really did a great job and the use of your hometown as inspiration was very thoughtful.”

A blush ran through Ryan’s cheeks as he looked down at his feet. “Well, I couldn’t have done it without your help, so thank you. If I win, it’ll be because of you.”

Now it was Logan’s turn to blush. “It was nothing really. Anyone would have helped you out. I was just following your orders.”

“Hey.” Ryan touched Logan’s arm. A jolt of electricity went through Logan’s skin at the point of contact. Logan eyed the hand touching him before he raised his head and met those beautiful eyes. “You really helped me out last night. I can’t even begin to tell you how much it meant, especially considering the fact that you’re not a fan of Christmas,” he said with a wink. Logan smiled back as Ryan continued, “It really was above and beyond.”

They stared at each other while Logan was clearly at a loss for what to say next. Ryan bit his lip, clearly looking like he was expecting something to come out of Logan’s mouth. Ask him out, now is the time, he could hear Ann telling him.
